The Word of God

First of all, let’s start from the beginning. The Bible says in John 1:1, “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.”
In Genesis 1:1 the Bible tells us that God created the heaven and the earth. How? Simply by his word, that’s it! God spoke the world into existence. Now I believe that we have the word of God, and that word is the old King James Bible. I don’t believe that my God is so dumb, that he needs someone else to rewrite his book for him so that man can better understand it. I believe that my God is capable of communicating with me on a personal basis with my old King James Bible.
No one has ever been put to death for revising { changing, or rewriting} the old King James Bible. But I know the history of some men who have been put to death, or put into prison just for translating it into the English language. Also there have been men and women of God who have been burned alive at the stake, or put to death in some other way just for holding onto the precious words of that old King James Bible. There has never been another book on the face of this earth that has been used more, loved more, and even hated more than the Kings James Bible. Why? Simply because it is the very words of God Almighty, creator of the universe, and the devil can’t stand God’s word. It was God’s word that cast Satan out of heaven. It is God’s word in which that ole serpent is rebuked. It was the words of Jesus Christ that healed the sick, and raised the dead. It is only by God’s word that man is saved from a devils hell. The Bible says that faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by THE WORD OF GOD. It doesn’t say by a word of God, or by any Bible. Sure, a person can pick up any Bible and hear the plan of salvation in it. But where did the plan of salvation come from? It came from the old King James Bible. So salvation only came through the spoken word of God. It was the Word that our Christian for-fathers lived for, and died for. Without the pure Word of God, there is no hope.
The reason for all these other Bibles is only to create confusion. And who loves confusion? My, my, it takes a lot of brains to figure that one out, doesn’t it? Now, why does the devil want to confuse? Well, so people will doubt that there is a pure word of God, and throw up their hands and just go straight to hell. I know, I’ve run into them, and they use that as an excuse to live how they want, and go straight to hell. And that’s just what the devil wants. He wants just as many souls as he can get. If someone is confused spiritually, it’s not of God. The devils first words to Eve was, “Yea, hath God said?” The first words the devil ever spoke to man kind ended with a question mark. So if the devil can get you to think, “Is this really God’s Word?” then he’s got you. Don’t ever doubt God’s word, you’ll miss out on so many blessings, { spiritual blessings that is.}
Not only will the devil use other versions as confusion to the lost, but he will use other versions to stunt the growth of New Christians. He figures the second best thing is to keep that baby Christian from growing strong spiritually. If a Christian gets to loving God’s word and growing in the Lord he might just go out and win more lost to Jesus Christ, and the devil can’t have that. And just maybe the reason baby Christians don’t grow is because other versions don’t tell them to desire pure spiritual milk to grow up in their salvation. 1 Peter 2:2. Mmmmm, someone doesn’t want babes to know that the sincere milk, is the MILK OF THE WORD.
I have had this question asked to me several times. “Why so many versions of the Bible?” And I feel like asking them, “Do you believe there’s a devil?” If the devil is real, (and I strongly believe that he is) then the first thing he’s going to want to do is mess with God’s Holy Word. So many versions change words to mean something totally different. They take out whole verses, and they take out the blood of Christ in several verses. They change the comforter to the counselor. Now I believe that the Holy Spirit does counsel the child of God, but more importantly he comforts. You know, sometimes I don’t need counseling, I just need comforting, and they are not the same. Counseling, and comforting are two different things.
There is so much more than meets the eye when you get into comparing other versions with the old King James Version, but for right now all I want to do is show you the many things the Old King James Bible is likened to. It’s everything you need to get through life spiritually. And when you can get through life spiritually, you can also make it through physically.
First of all, the Word of God is water. You cannot make it through life physically without water. You can’t make it through spiritually either without the water of God’s Word. Psalms 119:9, “Where withal shall a young man (woman) cleanse his way? By taking heed thereto according to THY WORD.”
It all starts with water. How do you physically get clean? Yes, by washing in water. How do you get clean spiritually? It’s only by the Water of the Word. Wow, it took a college degree to figure that one out. When you are dirty spiritually, it will always hinder you from growing in the Lord.
God’s Word is also a sin repellent. The Bible says in Psalms 119:11, “Thy Word have I hid in my heart, that I might not sin against thee.”
God’s Word strengthens, verse 28. “”My soul melteth for heaviness: strengthen thou me according to thy WORD.” Isaiah 41:10, “Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness.”
God’s Word is salvation, verse 41. “Let thy mercies come also unto me, O Lord, even thy salvation, according to thy word. Verse 42. So shall I have wherewith to answer him that reproacheth me: FOR I TRUST IN THY WORD.” John 5:39, John 3:16, 1 John 5:11, 1 John 5:20, Titus 1:2.
The Word of God quickens, Psalms 119:49-50. “Remember the word unto thy servant, upon which thou hast caused me to hope. This is my comfort in my affliction: FOR THY WORD HATH QUICKENED ME.”
The word of God is settled, Verse 89. “For ever, oh Lord, thy word is settled in heaven.” Isaiah 40:8, “The grass withereth, the flower fadeth: but the word of our God shall stand for ever.” Mark 13:31, “Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away.”
The Word of God is honey, Psalms 119:103. “How sweet are thy words unto my taste, yea sweeter than honey to my mouth.” Psalm 19:7-10.
The Word of God is a lamp, verse 105. “Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.” Verse130. “The entrance of thy word giveth light; it giveth understanding to the simple.” Ecclesiastes 11:7, John 3:19-21.
The word of God is pure, 140. “Thy word is very pure; therefore thy servant loveth it. Proverbs 30:5-6 says, “Every word of God is pure: he is a shield unto them that put their trust in him. Add thou not unto his words, lest he reprove thee, and thou be found a liar.” Woe, wait a minute. Who is the father of all lies according to the Word of God? The answer to that question is found in John 8:44. Satan is the father of all lies, and was a liar from the beginning. God clearly says that you do not add to his word, { Proverbs 30:6} and you do not take from his word. {Revelation 22:19} Mmmmmm, who do you think the real author is behind these other versions then? Something good to think about, huh?
The Word of God is true, verse 160. “Thy word is true from the beginning.” John 17: 17, “Sanctify them through thy truth: Thy word is truth.”
The Word of God is Treasure, verse 162. “I rejoice in thy word, as one that findeth great spoil.” Matthew 6:21. “For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.” That is so profound. word? If so, that is where your heart is.
Is silver a substance to be treasured? Well, guess what? The Words of the Lord are so pure, their like silver tried in the furnace of earth, and they are purified seven times. Remember how the number seven is such a special number with God? The Bible also tells us that the Words of the Lord are to be desired more than fine gold. Psalms 19:10.
The Word of God is Awesome. David said, “My heart standeth in awe of thy word. Psalms 119:161.
The Word of God is likened to seed, Luke 8:11. How does a seed grow into a plant, and bare fruit? It cannot possibly be done without water. When a seed is planted in someone’s heart, it cannot grow and bare fruit without the Word of God.
In God’s word you find understanding, Psalm 119:169. “Let my cry come near before thee, O Lord: give me understanding according to THY WORD.” The Bible says in Proverbs 3:5 that we are supposed to trust in the Lord with all our hearts, and lean not unto our own understanding. I reckon if we can’t lean on our own understanding than God has to provide the understanding for us. He wouldn’t tell us not to lean on our own understanding if he wasn’t going to provide the understanding for us. God has promised to provide all our needs according to his riches in glory. The riches in glory are spiritual riches. Why all these carnal Christians are looking for the physical riches is beyond me. It all goes back to “where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.” The understanding is provided for. The question is, are you looking for it in the right place?
The Word of God is deliverance, verse170. “Let my supplication come before thee: deliver me according to Thy Word.”
In God’s Word you can find mercy, verse 58. “I entreat thy favour with my whole heart: be merciful unto me according to THY WORD.” Psalms 103:8, “The Lord is merciful and gracious, slow to anger, and plenteous in mercy.”
Here’s one of my favorites. The Word of God is comfort, verse 76. “Let, I pray thee, thy merciful kindness be for my comfort, according to THY WORD unto thy servant.” 2 Corinthians 1:3-4. “Blessed be God, even the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of all mercies, and the God of all comfort; Who comforteth us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort them which are in any trouble, by the comfort wherewith we ourselves are comforted of God.” I’m so thankful for the comfort that’s found in this Bible. I just know that I would not have been able to make it through life without the comfort from God’s Word. His Word tells me that I’m going to see my Mother again. His Word tells me that I have eternal life. His Word tells me that he’s going to wipe all tears away. His Word tells me that there’s coming a day where there will be no more death, no more crying, and no more pain. His Word tells me that he’s preparing a place for me, and that he’ll come again and receive me unto himself, and I’ll be with him forever. His Word tells me that eye hath not seen, nor has it ever been told to man what he has waiting for those who love him. His Word tells me that his yoke is easy, and his burden is light. And His Word tells me in 1 Thessalonians 4:18, to COMFORT one another with these words. How could we comfort any one at all if we didn’t have His Words.
His Word is Hope, Psalms 146:5 “Happy is he that hath the God of Jacob for his help, whose hope is in the Lord his God.” Romans 8:24. “For we are saved by hope.” Titus 2:13. “Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Savior Jesus Christ.” When ever I see a person that looks so helpless and so hopeless, how I long to tell them of the blessed hope that’s found in God’s Word. I can not imagine having to go through this life with all its troubles, and trials, and not have any hope for the future. You can get through anything in this life if you have hope that one day things will be better. You can get through the storms of life, if you hope in God’s word. Living alone in this world without hope, and without God is the most horrible thing for a person to have to go through. Without God’s Word we would all be without hope and on our way to Hell to pay for our own sins. It’s only through God’s Word that we know about the precious blood of the Lord Jesus Christ that was shed for our sins. I praise God for the hope that’s in his Word. Titus 1:2 says, “In hope of eternal life, which God that cannot lie, promised before the world began.”
The Word of God abides forever. 1 Peter 1:23, “Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, BY THE WORD OF GOD, which liveth and ABIDETH FOREVER.
The Word of God heals. Psalms 107:19-21, “Then they cry unto the Lord in their trouble, and he saveth them out of their distresses. He sent HIS WORD, and healed them, and delivered them from their destructions. Oh that men would praise the Lord for his goodness, and his wonderful works to the children of men.” Matthew 8:8, “The centurion answered and said, Lord, I am not worthy that thou shouldest come under my roof: but speak THE WORD only, and my servant shall be healed.”
The Word of God is a Sword. Hebrews 4:12, “For the Word of God is quick and powerful, and sharper than any two edged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.”
The Word of God is Faith. Romans 10:17, “So then faith commeth by hearing, and hearing by the WORD OF GOD.” I’m so glad I can have faith in God’s Word. I can have faith that he will give me the desires of my heart if I delight myself in him, Psalms 37:4. I can have faith that he will satisfy my longing soul, and fill my hungry soul with goodness, Psalms 107:9. I can have faith that he will supply all my needs according to his riches in glory, Philippians 4:19. The Bible says without faith it is impossible to please God. The only way for your faith to increase is through his Word alone. So there you have it. You just can’t please God unless you’re in his Word. The Bible tells us that God is a spirit, and in order to worship God, we must worship him in spirit and in truth. That doesn’t mean speak in tongues, or run around and act like an idiot. That simply means to pray, and read your Bible. When you talk to God you are spiritually coming before his throne of mercy. { In your right mind.} When you read your Bible, you are worshiping God in truth. The Bible says, let God be true, and every man a liar. God said his Word is truth. Here’s a neat little golden nugget to cherish. Just think about this for a minute. When there’s no more heaven and no more earth, God’s Word will still be here. Mark 13:31 says, “Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away.” Wow, what a thought. I’m so glad I have the privilege of holding God’s Word in my hands. I’m so honored to be able to hold on to something that will never pass away.
